Small benefits for blood pressure and LDL, but evidence is mixed and effects are modest.
Grape seed extract is a concentrated polyphenol supplement made from Vitis vinifera seeds; related proanthocyanidins are also found in grape skins, red wine, cocoa, and some berries. It acts mainly as an antioxidant and may support nitric oxide signaling and endothelial function. The best-supported benefits are small reductions in blood pressure, possible modest LDL lowering, and possible relief of chronic venous symptoms; there is also limited evidence for skin photoprotection. Adults with elevated blood pressure, dyslipidemia, or venous insufficiency are most likely to notice a benefit.

How It Works
The active proanthocyanidins act as free-radical scavengers and may protect vascular endothelium by reducing oxidative stress and improving nitric oxide bioavailability. They also appear to inhibit LDL oxidation and modulate inflammatory signaling pathways, though the clinical relevance of these mechanisms in humans remains uncertain.
